DokuWiki cloud stack offers clean and easy-to-read syntax with easy maintenance, backup and integration that the administrator loves the most.
About DokuWiki Stack
Some documentation tools require a database, a login system, and a learning curve before your team writes the first page, DokuWiki deliberately avoids all of that. Intuz’s DokuWiki AMI deploys the database-free, open-source wiki software on Amazon EC2 with Apache and Webmin pre-installed, so a working internal wiki or knowledge base exists shortly after the instance launches.
Because DokuWiki stores content as plain text files rather than in a database, backups are as simple as copying files, and the readable syntax means non-technical team members can edit pages without learning a complex markup language first.
Support for 50 languages makes this a practical choice for distributed or international teams documenting processes in more than one language, and the platform’s lighter system requirements mean it runs comfortably on a smaller EC2 instance than database-backed alternatives.
Webmin integration handles file transfer, and password recovery, backup, snapshot, and update management scripts are included, so maintaining the wiki doesn’t require someone remembering to manually back up a database on a schedule.
If your documentation needs eventually outgrow DokuWiki’s lightweight, file-based model, particularly if you need more structured organization, permissions, or a more polished reading experience, look at the BookStack AMI. It takes a more book-and-chapter structured approach to the same underlying knowledge base problem.
