What is Matter communication protocol?
Matter is a new smart home standard supported by major companies such as Apple, Google, and Amazon. It addresses several issues around smart home devices, including security, interoperability, and privacy. Matter allows smart devices to communicate among themselves – irrespective of their manufacturer.
Will old devices work with Matter?
That depends, honestly. In its current form, Matter supports devices that connect to the internet through Ethernet, Wi-Fi and a new low-power wireless network called Thread, which is basically an application layer on which Matter is based.
