Challenges
Core Challenges Before
the Platform Existed
Problem 1
No Off-the-Shelf Solution Existed
French Florist evaluated platforms like Salesforce and dozens of other tools. Nothing in the market was built for how a modern florist actually operates. Building from scratch was the only path forward.
problem 2
An Industry Running on Outdated Technology
The floral industry hadn’t modernised its operational software in decades. Processes were manual, fragmented, and impossible to scale. The technology gap was industry-wide, not just internal.
Problem 3
No Personalization for Customers
The existing system treated every order the same. There was no way to tailor the shopping experience, offer meaningful gifting options, or build loyalty through personalized interactions. Every customer got a generic experience.
Problem 4
Low Visibility into Business Performance
There were no detailed reports on orders, revenue, or staff productivity. Many decisions were made without data.
Problem 5
Manual In-Store Operations with No Tracking
Store staff managed order preparation and shipping without any dedicated system. Progress wasn’t tracked, performance wasn’t measured, and errors weren’t caught. Everything ran on memory and paper.
Technical Challenges
Where the Technical Challenges Were
and How We Solved Them
Floral retail runs on perishable inventory, time-sensitive orders, and highly variable demand
none of which standard eCommerce infrastructure handles well.
Every major feature required a purpose-built solution.
01
Building AI Forecasting for Perishable, Seasonal Inventory
French Florist needed inventory forecasting that could handle real demand patterns – something no standard eCommerce tool was built to do. We built a custom ML-based demand forecasting solution that analyzes historical sales data, current demand trends, and SKU-level performance to predict inventory requirements accurately – reducing overstocking and understocking before they happen.
02
Syncing 13+ Integrations Without Breaking Platform Performance
Connecting delivery tracking, payment gateways, and marketing automation tools into one platform creates compounding failure points – one slow integration can degrade the entire experience. We architected the integration layer so each third-party tool operates independently, ensuring platform speed and reliability are never dependent on any single external service.
03
Replacing Manual In-Store Operations with a Custom iPad App
Store staff were managing order preparation and shipping entirely by hand – no system tracked progress, measured performance, or flagged errors in real time. Building a native iPad app that mirrored the complexity of back-end operations while staying simple enough for daily floor use required careful UX and data architecture decisions. The result replaced every manual step with tracked, measurable workflows.
04
A Reporting Backend Complex Enough to Run the Whole Business
The client needed one system to manage inventory, coupons, shipping, user roles, and staff attendance – all feeding into detailed business reports. Building a backend that handles this breadth without becoming slow or brittle under real operational load required a modular architecture where each thing stays independent but reports feed into a single unified view.
What the Client Said
We didn’t really want to build our own software – we would have rather purchased software off the shelf, but we looked at platforms like Salesforce and other things out there and nothing really was what we needed it to be. So we thought, let’s create it ourselves.”

What We Planned and Built
Everything French Florist Needed
Built From the Ground Up
French Florist needed more than a website rebuild. Intuz designed and built an end-to-end platform – eCommerce storefront,
AI inventory system, in-store operations app, and a reporting backend – all connected and running on auto-scaling cloud infrastructure.
Every component was purpose-built because nothing off the shelf came close.
A Consumer-Facing eCommerce Store Built for Modern Retail
French Florist needed a storefront that could handle personalized shopping, real-time product availability, and a buying experience that matched the quality of the brand. Intuz built the platform using Next.js and React on the frontend and Node.js on the backend – with delivery and pickup options, product browsing, and a checkout flow designed around how florist customers actually shop.
A Gifting Feature That Makes Every Order Personal
Customers can record a video message when placing an order. The recipient receives a QR code with their delivery and scans it to watch the message via Vimeo. This made gifting more personal without adding complexity to the order process.
13+ Integrations Powering One Connected Platform
French Florist needed delivery tracking, payments, marketing automation, and more – all working together without friction. Intuz integrated 13+ third-party tools including Onfleet, Klaviyo, Hotjar, Imgix, Yotpo, Loqate, and Cloudflare into a single connected platform.
A Custom iPad App for In-Store Operations
Store staff previously managed order preparation and shipping without any dedicated system. The custom iPad app shows all order details, tracks preparation progress in real time, measures employee performance, and replaces every manual step with a tracked workflow.
What the Client Said
They’ve made it pixel perfect every single time with a very small amount of iterations needed.

Every Part of the Operation, Covered
More Than an eCommerce Store
Multi-Gateway Payment Support
Apple Pay, Google Pay, Visa, Mastercard, and PayPal are all supported through Braintree – covering one-time and recurring payment flows. Customers pay the way they prefer without friction at checkout.
Advanced Business Reporting
Detailed reports cover orders, revenue, staff attendance, coupons, and shipping – all filterable from one backend. Management has full visibility into business performance without pulling data from separate systems.
In-Store iPad Order Management
Store staff manage every order from preparation through dispatch on a dedicated iPad app. Order details, progress, and employee performance are tracked in one place – replacing paper and manual processes entirely.
Demand Forecasting
A custom machine learning model analyzes historical sales data, current demand trends, and SKU-level performance to predict exactly what inventory is needed and when. It eliminates overstocking and understocking – so purchasing decisions are driven by data, not guesswork.
Auto-Scaling Cloud Infrastructure
The platform is deployed on AWS and built to scale automatically as traffic and order volume grow. Performance stays consistent whether the store is handling a quiet Tuesday or a Valentine’s Day rush.
Klaviyo Marketing Integration
Klaviyo is connected to the storefront so customer order data and behaviour flow directly into their existing marketing setup. French Florist manages their own campaigns – the integration ensures the data gets there automatically.

Tools & technologies
Tools and Technologies We Used
Built entirely on modern open-source and cloud infrastructure chosen for
reliability, scalability, and the specific demands of a high-volume retail operation.
What Our Client Says
Intuz was the clear winner right off the bat – incredibly responsive, reliable, consistent, and produced high quality work. Four and a half years later we’ve invested close to a million dollars with them and we continue to need to ramp up our investment because it has such a profound and high ROI. Intuz really feels like they’re a part of the French Florist family. We don’t view them as a vendor or a supplier or an agency relationship – we really do view them as in-house dedicated resources that we can tap into and have them be a true part of our team. I would highly recommend anybody who is considering any software development project to definitely consider Intuz – they perform above and beyond every single time and we wouldn’t be where we are without them.
