Intuz LAMP stack provides a pre-configured environment with Apache, PHP, MySQL, and phpMyAdmin to simplify PHP application development and deployment on AWS.
About LAMP stack
LAMP has stayed the default stack for PHP web development for a reason: Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP are a known, well-documented combination that most PHP frameworks and CMS platforms are built to run on without modification. Intuz’s LAMP AMI puts that exact combination on Amazon EC2, with a free version covering Apache, PHP, MySQL, and phpMyAdmin, and a paid version that adds Webmin for server management on top.
Because the components are interchangeable by design, this AMI works as a starting point whether you’re deploying a custom PHP application, a Laravel or CodeIgniter project, or a CMS that expects a standard LAMP environment. If you’re still choosing a PHP framework for a new build, Laravel vs CodeIgniter is worth a read for the practical differences in structure and performance that matter once you’re past the tutorial stage.
phpMyAdmin comes bundled in both versions, so managing your MySQL databases, running queries, and handling imports or exports doesn’t require a separate database client or command-line access for every routine task. The paid version’s Webmin addition extends that same convenience to broader server administration, cron jobs, file permissions, and service management, without needing SSH for things your team does weekly.
Security is handled at the instance level too, with HTTPS access and a self-signed SSL certificate configured by default, plus password recovery, backup, and update management scripts so the stack doesn’t need manual hardening before it’s production-ready.
If your workload leans toward high-traffic, cache-heavy applications rather than a standard PHP site, the LEMP AMI handles that better, it swaps Apache for NGINX. The two are close cousins, but NGINX’s event-driven model tends to handle concurrent connections more efficiently under heavier load.
